Fabricating directly from a BIM or CAD design model saves time and materials, prevents mistakes, and facilitates off-site fabrication. There are multiple Revit-centric fabrication software solutions available but fabricating from AutoCAD or other CAD packages can be challenging. This is a pain point for organizations that want to use CAD for some jobs and BIM for others. This presentation will focus on Therma’s mixed Revit and AutoCAD fabrication workflow using PypeServer software, from the selection of pipe, plumbing, and hanger assemblies for fabrication directly in their models, to fab shop management via the cloud, and nesting/cutting/labeling using both automated and manual tools.
